Obituary published on Legacy.com by Krause Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Inc. - Brookfield on Aug. 23, 2023.
Susan P. Ramstack (Sue, Susie, Sister, Auntie, Mom, Oma) of New
Berlin, Wisconsin entered into eternal life on Monday, August 21st, 2023, after an extremely courageous battle with Melanoma. Her beautiful spirit is carried on by her loving children Molly, Christian (Kelly), Dayna, granddaughter Hayley, older sister Carol (Peter) and many additional family and friends.
Sue was born November 16th, 1952, at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago, IL and shared a birthday with both of her grandfathers. As a little girl living in Illinois, she loved to hear the mourning doves cooing in the big pine tree outside of the screened in porch. Coining herself as a "tomboy," she loved to climb trees, play in the woods and play sports. Being a rebel, Sue enjoyed her time first as a Blue Bird and then flew up to be a Campfire Girl. No Girl Scouts for her! The family then moved to
Brookfield, WI where she started 4th Grade at Brookfield Elementary School. She also played the clarinet ("Bennie" Bolstad), the guitar in coffee houses in the summer in Minocqua and also played the piano beautifully. Additionally, she loved skiing and riding horses. She would ride every chance she would get and was in the Riding Club in Junior High and High School.
Sue then went on to graduate from Brookfield Central High School in 1970. After meeting on a blind date, Sue and Charlie married in the summer of 1971 and moved to
Waukesha, WI where they raised 3 children. Together as a family they spent summers Up North near Minocqua and enjoyed weekends at their cottage on Sugar Island. As a couple, Sue and Charlie loved to travel, spend time with family and friends, and dance. They remained married for 50 years before his passing in October 2021.
Prior to retiring in April of 2023, Sue spent 26 years as Circulation Manager with Lessiter and was the 3rd most tenured employee in the Company's 42-year history. Amidst her off days, you could find Sue crocheting, gardening, bird watching (especially hummingbirds) playing the keyboard, swimming (floating) with her sister Carol and watching Hallmark. With Christmas being her favorite Holiday, she made every excuse to celebrate year-round. Sue cherished her family and friends, loved getting together for parties, Packer Games, and cookouts for any reason (even in the rain) and spending long weekends with her granddaughter Hayley. Always creating Norwegian dishes and treats, she has passed down the tradition of Christmas Krumkake. Most recently she enjoyed exploring her Norwegian ancestry, learning the language and joined the Son's and Daughter's of Norway.
Spending time with Sue was being loved (unless you were in trouble – then you got the chop)!! You could feel it in her presence and see it in the sparkle of her eyes and her beautiful smile. She poured love into everything she did and everyone she met. Good or bad, when Sue was there, you just knew everything was going to be ok and it always was. Sue made life special for all of us every single day. She instilled that family always comes first, it always did, and we will carry on that legacy.
