LOYALSOCK - Susan "Sue" (Wert) Rost, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the Gatehouse.
She was married in 1993 to Lawrence "Larry" Rost for 33 years, who survives. Sue was born on October 13, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Leroy and Pearl (Mentch) Wert. She graduated from South Williamsport High School. Sue was a Real Estate agent for Fish Real Estate and prior to that with the Koons agency. She and Larry spent many years on the Eastern Shore fishing and eventually built a home in Wachapreague, VA. While at home, you could find Sue sitting on her deck sipping coffee adoring her birds or digging in the dirt of her flower gardens while adoring her décor and the various fruits of her labor from roses and hydrangeas to her houseplants. She was bold, expressing if she didn't' care for something while also feisty in her small stature. She had a heart for gift giving to family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Larry, she is survived by two step-children; Michele Rost Williamson (Matt) and her two beloved grandchildren, Maxton and Maslin of Montoursville and Ty Rost (Meredith) and her three beautiful granddaughters, Janie, Mya and Lily of Hummelstown. Sue had a son, George Reese Koons (Stacy) along with two grandsons, Mitchell and Brooks, of whom they had separated years ago. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters; Melody Costa and Bonnie Shaffer, of which she adored their children, her nephews; Bradford "Brad" Costa of West Palm Beach, FL and Rich Harris of Mechanicsburg.
Sue also adored her faithful servant of 18 years, Abner "Beaner", a feisty Brussels Griffon. Upon his passing, she returned to being a cat mom of Himalayan, Bentley.
There will be a gathering of family and friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th St., Williamsport. All other services will be private at the convenience of the family.
