Walker Funeral Homes & Crematory - Toledo/Sylvania TownshipSusan "Sue" Stancel Sexton passed away peacefully October 23, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was 71 years old. Sue was born in Tiffin, Ohio to Milan and Helen (Angus) Stancel.
Sue graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1972 and was a graduate of The Ohio State University in 1977 where she studied accounting and earned a BSBA. Sue became a Certified Public Accountant in Ohio in 1982 and held her professional license for fifty years. She was employed in both public accounting and industry roles throughout her career.
In 1985, Sue married the love of her life Patrick "Rick" Sexton and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and shared dreams. They devoted themselves to summer boating on Lake Erie. They were active members of the Toledo Yacht Club, The Crews Nest at Put-In-Bay and founding members of DESYC. They forged lasting friendships with fellow boaters over twenty-five years.
Sue resided with Rick in his childhood home in West Toledo until 2001. She and Rick bought property and moved to the countryside in Providence Township. There she enjoyed gardening and pondscaping. Many lasting memories were made with family and friends at their famous fish fries at their home.
Sue was an active participant in professional and community-based organizations. In the 1990's she served as president of the board for Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio and the North River Development Corporation. Sue's devotion to her profession and her playful wit along with her generosity and spirit of cooperation will forever live on through her family and friends.
Sue's memory lives on through her stepchildren; Heather Sexton and Craig (Alessandra) Sexton, brother; Thomas M. (Jeanne) Stancel, ten nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. Sue is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Rick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Victory Center of Toledo, The Toledo Humane Society, or The Toledo Community Foundation DAF the Susan Sexton Trust.
All are invited to meet at Calvary Cemetery Section 36, where graveside services for Sue will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, beginning at 11:30 am.
