Susan Ann Sklade, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully passed away on January 8, 2024, in Carmel, Indiana. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 22, 1952, to June and Gary Reichelt.
She attended St. Peter Catholic School, Regina Dominican High School, and St. Norbert College where she majored in art, met her husband Bob, and began beautiful, life-long friendships.
Sue found her calling as an elementary school teacher, specializing in Growth and Development and Social Skills, shaping the young hearts and minds of hundreds of Devonshire Elementary children.
She retired in 2004 and spent her time doing her favorite things, gardening, cooking, reading, entertaining, painting, being in the sunshine, loving her many cats and dogs, and cherishing time with family and friends. Sue moved to Indiana in 2020 to spend more time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Katherine Miller (Nate) and Megan Sklade (Phil Andros), and grandchildren, Ethan, Zach, and Penelope Miller; her sister Janis Licari; sister-in-law Joyce Beaudoin (Deny), and nieces and nephew, Laura Licari, Elizabeth Gioa, and Chris Beaudoin.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Sklade, and her wonderful parents, Gary and June Reichelt.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Susan at Flanner Buchanan - Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Dr, Carmel, Indiana, 46032, on January 25, 2024, at 6:30 PM (EST). Please join us for a reception directly following the service.
A second Celebration of Life will be held for Susan at Haben Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd, Skokie, Illinois, 60077, on February 8, 2024, at 5:00 PM (CST). Please join us for a reception directly following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Hamilton County Humane Society in her memory.
