Susan Stone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knapp Funeral Home - Watseka on Dec. 18, 2025.
Susan P. Stone, 78, of Watseka passed away on Wednesday December 17, 2025 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Susie was born on August 8, 1947 in Watseka, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph O. and Marjorie "Pat" (West) Johnson and they preceded her in death. She married David L. Stone on July 15, 1967 in Watseka and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Marci Stone.
She is survived by one son, Ben Stone of Milford; two daughters, Sally (Erik) Parmenter of Watseka and Mandy (Chris) VanHoveln of Crescent City; 13 grandchildren, Jessica (Marc) Dirks, Drew (Torri) Stone, Emma (Jarrod) Metcalfe, Leah (Robert) Pettry, Abby Stone, Hannah Stone, Samuel Stone, Anna Parmenter, David Parmenter, Lydia Parmenter, Kinley VanHoveln, Joshua VanHoveln, and Blake VanHoveln; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Debbie (Lonnie) Laughlin of Colorado; and Janie (Joda) Crabtree of Watseka; and two brothers, Dave (Brenna) Johnson of Watseka and Mike Johnson of Springfield.
Susie grew up enjoying farm life with her siblings and cousins in Watseka. As a young person, she gave her life to Christ, and her testimony is that God filled her with His love for people. After she married Dave Stone, they raised their family to love others and to follow the Lord Jesus. She shared God's love through years of teaching kindergarten, serving in church, fixing meals for family and friends, and even giving her smile to her caregivers to the end. Susie was a founding member of Living Hope Church in Watseka. She enjoyed time with her family and adored her grandchildren. Her heart was also for missions such as Compassion International and Youth for Christ.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Living Hope Church in Watseka. Pastor Ron Bogenschneider will officiate. Burial will follow at Body Cemetery near Woodland.
Memorials may be made to Living Hope Church in Watseka or Compassion International.
