Susan Tibor, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024 at The Cottage at Wexner Heritage Village, surrounded by her family. Susan was born in Barcs, Hungary and grew up in Budapest. During World War II, she hid in Budapest from the fascist, antisemitic Hungarian Arrow Cross as they helped the Germans deport all Hungarian Jews to Nazi death camps. In 1944-1945, she survived the final battle for Budapest between the German and Russian armies. In 1956, she emigrated to the United States during the Hungarian revolution with her husband, Alfred Tibor, two children and brother-in-law, Andrew. She settled in Miami, Florida, where she spent fifteen years raising her family and working as a custom dressmaker. In 1972, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, where her husband worked as a commercial artist and advertising director before pursuing a second career as a sculptor. Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed by daughter, Eva and son-in-law, Jay; son, Thomas and daughter-in-law, Marie; grandchildren, Simone and husband, Josh, Michelle and husband, Gene, Ari and wife, Allie, Elliott and wife, Emily, and Julia; and great grandsons, Jack and Jude Summer. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at New Agudas Achim Cemetery, 2565 Performance Way. Shiva will follow at the home of Eva Tibor and Jay Brand. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Susan's memory may be made to Jewish Family Services - Holocaust Survivor Fund. www.jfscolumbus.org

I did not know Susan very long, but I enjoyed doing her hair and nail at Wexner Heritage House. She would always come in with a smile. My sincere condolences to the family. Friend Sandy Call
