Susan Mundy Turner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on June 25, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born on June 14, 1947, in Bedford, England, to the late Ralph and Gladys Mundy, Susan was raised on a sheep farm where she developed her lifelong love for animals and the countryside. She attended Catholic school in England, where she formed a strong foundation of faith, discipline, and kindness that would define her life.

After graduating high school, Susan met the love of her life, an American airman stationed in England. They married and began a journey together that took them from England to Texas and back again before settling in Warner Robins, Georgia, in 1972.

Susan began her professional life in Georgia as a pediatric ICU nurse at Houston Medical Center in the 1970s, where her gentle nature and fierce spirit made her a trusted caregiver and advocate for the tiniest patients. In the early 1980s, she transitioned into a new role as a Senior Instructor at Happy Hour Service Center, continuing her legacy of compassion and dedication through service to others.

A true farm girl at heart, Susan found great joy in rural life. She loved riding horses and competed in English riding, earning awards for her skill and elegance in the saddle. She also raised goats and cared for a menagerie of animals over the years, frequently opening her home to those in need of special attention. Even wild animals found refuge under her care—she had a soft spot for all creatures and never hesitated to extend her heart and home.

Susan was a proud member of the British Wives Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 0172. In these communities, she built lifelong friendships and shared her warmth, wit, and wisdom.

Known for her sweet heart and feisty spirit, Susan was never one to shy away from standing her ground. Her kindness was boundless, but so was her strength. Those who knew her best will remember her as a woman of quiet grace and unshakable resolve.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Arlis and brother, Howard Mundy.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Darren Turner (Beth) of Perry, Georgia, and Allison Heard (Pete Makuch) of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren, Rebecca Susan Turner, William Turner, Matthew Turner, Justin Heard, Joshua Heard, Shannon Heard, Averie Massey, Ayla Wilson, Brian Cooper, and Phillip Makuch; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Peter Mundy, Jackie Fleming (Robert), and Robert Mundy; partner, John Fountain; numerous nieces and nephews; close friends, Nikki Sims and Patty Ingram; and special caretakers, Dana Thornsbury and Kettishes Hill.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, in Andersonville National Cemetery.
