Susan Marie Walker, age 70, passed away peacefully at her home on December 3, 2024, in Crandall, Texas. She was born on November 6, 1954, in Houston, Texas to parents Burtis and Billie (Miller) Crone.
Susan graduated from Eagle Lake High School as part of the Class of 1972. She was a dedicated individual who held a remarkable career at AllState Insurance, where she worked from 1972 until her retirement in 2011, proud to reach an impressive milestone of 30 years with the company.
Susan was known for her intelligence and witty personality, characterized by her outspoken nature and love for engaging in conversation with friends and family. She had a strong affection for animals and an enthusiasm for reading that often led her to immerse herself in the pages of a good book.
Sports played a significant role in Susan's life. Whether it was watching the Dallas Cowboys on a Sunday afternoon or rooting for her favorite basketball and baseball teams, she always found joy in the camaraderie of sports. She was a fan of all things athletics, including hockey, and could often be found enjoying primetime television, with a particular penchant for crime-based shows like Law & Order.
Susan’s love for the performing arts shone brightly through her enjoyment of musicals and concerts. She cherished moments spent with her girls, especially when it came to the thrill of attending midnight movie releases together. Susan loved her children and grandchildren dearly, she had a special connection with Maddox whom she bonded with over brain skill games on their iPads.
Susan was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Burtis Crone and Billie Jean Miller; sister, Barbara Cash; and sister, Jenny Bourland.
Susan is survived by her son, Chris Balusek of Bastrop, Texas; daughter, Heather Taylor of Crandall, Texas; daughter, Billie Hedrick of Crandall, Texas; son, Alston Walker of Crandall, Texas; grandson, Vayden Hickey of Crandall, Texas; grandson, Maddox Taylor of Crandall, Texas; granddaughter, Billie Walker of Crandall, Texas; sister, Bertha Young of Lufkin, Texas; brother, Burtis Crone, Jr. of Houston, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
