Ruby J. Burk, 93, of Crandall, TX went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2025. Janie, as she was known most of her life, was born on October 28, 1931, to Gus and Vita Bailey in Kaufman, TX. She was raised in the Warsaw and Kaufman area, spending most of her years in Crandall. Janie was double-promoted twice and graduated from Crandall High School in 1946 as Valedictorian of her class. She loved sports and played basketball and softball while in school.

After graduation, Janie married J.L. Burk, and cherished her time with him and taking care of their family, part of which was raising their two children, Jim and Debbie. She worked for a number of years at Storm Printing Company in Dallas but left that job to raise their children. She later worked several years for Huey and Phelps, then eventually retired after working 10+ years for the IRS.

Janie treasured her time following all her kids - children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, to their various sporting events and school activities. You could find her at football, basketball, volleyball, cheer practice/games, baseball, softball and all games in between. This was her greatest pleasure – cheering on her kids at every game/event. She loved every school program, play and attending kindergarten, junior high, high school and college graduations through the years. She was beloved by her entire family. She was always the go-to person for pretty much anything that needed to be done. Her ability to get things done in the midst of never-ending happy “chaos” was legendary and she will be so missed by us all.

Janie was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Crandall. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her parents, Gus and Vita, husband JL, and siblings: Katherine, Jean, Robert, Jerry and Carl preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory are son, Jim Burk and wife Dian, daughter Debbie Morgan and husband Rickey, grandchildren: Jaime Simons and husband Rodney, Angie Mason and husband Ryan and Shelly Pringle and husband James; great grandchildren: Lauren Simons, Nathan Pringle, Allie Pringle, Maddie Mason, Abby Simons and Luke Mason; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
