It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Susan Washington, 73, of Eutawville, South Carolina, who transitioned on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at MUSC Medical Center. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home. Masks are required.
Reflections Of A Life Well Lived
- A Time To Be Born -
Susan Washington, daughter of the late Maebell Bradshaw, was born on July 4, 1950, in Eutawville, South Carolina. Susan endured a brief illness and soon departed for eternal peace and rest on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Medical University of South Carolina In Charleston, SC.
- A Time To Be Baptized -
From an early age, Susan accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at St. James Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. James Glover. Susan was an active and faithful member of the church until she became ill. Susan served in various capacities in the church, namely as a member of the Missionary, as a member of the Mothers' Ministry, and as a member of the Community Outreach Program. She regularly attended the Old Ashley Convention. She was also a member of the Sons and Daughters of Job.
- A Time To Be Educated -
Susan attended public schools in Orangeburg County. She graduated from Roberts High School in Holly Hill in 1969.
- A Time For Marriage -
Susan was joined in holy wedlock to the late Mr. Peter Washington, Sr. in 1971. Unto this marriage, one son, Peter Washington Jr., was born.
- A Time To Work -
Susan drove the school bus for the public schools in Orangeburg County for 49 years. She also worked at the Belmonte Luxury Adult Day Care. She frequently played the piano as entertainment for the elderly residents at the center.
- A Time To Serve -
Susan loved working with the youth in the community. She was the Director of the Eutawville Community 4-H group for years. She worked with the youth to grow a community garden, took them on numerous adventures to broaden their lived experiences, and had them compete in many competitions to increase their leadership abilities. Susan was also an active member of the Concerned Citizens of District 66.
- A Time To Remember -
Susan leaves loving, fond memories to be cherished by her three sons: Ronald (Janette) Bradshaw of Eutawville, SC, Andrew (Chandra) Bradshaw of Orangeburg, SC, and Peter (Patrice) Washington Jr. of Eutawville, SC; a son, Patrick Bradshaw preceded her in death. Her siblings: Sandra Gillens of Eutawville, SC, Sam (Mary) Bradshaw of Goose Creek, SC, and Virginia Bryant of Eutawville, SC. Her two cousins who were raised as siblings: Bobby Bradshaw of Eutawville, SC, and Flossie Jamison of Orangeburg, SC. Her grandchildren: Jasmine Davis, Sheldon Bradshaw, Ardrean Bradshaw, Ebony Bradshaw, Tyreke Bradshaw, Andrew Bradshaw Jr., Jordan Bradshaw, Darbi Bradshaw, Alexis Holman, and Ameya Washington. Her great-grandchildren: Mar'Kaiden James, Harmoni Bradshaw, Mason Moore, and Ava Moore. Her brothers-in-law: Isaac (Louise) Washington of NY, Ramson Washington, and Joseph Washington of Eutawville, SC. Her sisters-in-law: Estell Young and Janie Washington of Baltimore, MD, and Betty Ann Fisher of Charleston, SC. She also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends.
