Susan Claire Wills, born on March 26, 1957, in Walla Walla, Washington, was a beacon of kindness and generosity to all who knew her. She passed away peacefully in Berrien Springs, Michigan, on May 16, 2025. Susan’s creative spirit and quiet, authentic presence left an indelible mark on her community.

Susan’s formative years were spent in the nurturing embrace of her loving family. She was preceded in death by her father, James Wills, and survived by her mother, Rhoda Wills, along with her adoring siblings, Jerome Wills and Rosy (Raymond) Tetz. Her familial bonds were a source of immense strength and joy in her life.

Professionally, Susan’s artistic talents flourished throughout her career as a graphic designer with the Niles Newspaper. She later shared her eye for design with customers at Meijer, where she worked until retirement. Outside the office, Susan wholeheartedly devoted to her interests. She trained dogs locally and at shows in Chicago and Indianapolis. She cherished quality time with her beloved dog, Otis, and found solace in cooking, enjoying music, and reading. She had a broad range of interests and support for our Community Library. A skilled musician, she played guitar, ukulele, and piano with a passion that resonated in harmonious melodies.

Those fortunate enough to have felt Susan’s warmth will remember her as a loving and loyal friend. Her generosity extended beyond words, and her genuine nature carried a legacy of kindness. Susan’s memory will forever be treasured as a symphony of gentle whispers in a world that too often speaks in haste.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan, 5400 S. Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, Michigan. A memorial service will be held at Allred Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.  A time of visitation will take place during the hour before the service.
