Susie Williford Allen

Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Susie Williford Allen, age 97, of Hockaday Road passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held-11:00 AM Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Bethel OFWB Church in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. Tod Creech. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery. 

Mrs. Allen was born on September 18, 1926 in Johnston County to the late Braxton and Callie Massengill Williford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Eldridge Allen as well as her sisters, Sallie, Lettie, Martha, Myrtle, and Katie. 

Susie is survived by her son, Phillip Walter Allen and wife, Mary; granddaughter, Holland White and husband, Shane Toombs; grandson, Nathan Slaughter and wife, Jessica; great-granddaughter, Aubigne Toombs; and many nieces and nephews. 

Susie was a Licensed Practical Nurse who worked at the original Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield as well as performing in-home private duty nursing for many people. She believed helping and taking care of others was a lifelong gift of service that she performed without hesitation. 

She also enjoyed working in her large garden growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash to share with others until the age of 90. 

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the caregivers from Gentiva Hospice who served Susie so faithfully for the last 2 years.
