Susie Mangiaracina Obituary

Susie M. Mangiaracina, 97, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Born July 21, 1927, in Rockford, the daughter of Vincent and Josephine (Alaimo) Tarara. Susie married Anthony "Mungi" J. Mangiaracina in May 1948. He predeceased her in July 1987. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, St. Joseph Society and the Aragona Club. Susie was a devoted Catholic who enjoyed cooking and entertaining.
Survived by her sons, George (Amy) Mangiaracina and Vincent (Amber) Mangiaracina; grandchildren, Anthony Vincent and Anthony Jeffrey; sister, Joanne Tarara of Florida; nephew, Butch (Katie) Spoto; nieces, Jeanine Spoto, and Nancy (Bob) Thompson. Also predeceased by her grandson, Matthew Mangiaracina (2009); sisters, Teresa (Dom) Spoto and Sarah Tarara; and niece, JoAnne Spoto. The family would like to express a special thank you to Amy Mae, Amy Kroos, Karen Mitchell, Andrea, Nassaaim, Pastor Alvin, and numerous hospice team members over the years for their care. We would also like to express our gratitude to April (Gordy) Cooper and Annette McClinton, our special neighbors, whom turned family, in addition to Glenn "Chooch", that they were grocery shopping buddies for 15 years.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL. Memorials may be made to Diocese of Rockford Deaf Apostolate, PO Box 7044, Rockford, IL 61125. To share a memory or condolence please visit olsonfh.com.
