Susie Stern Obituary
While in her teens, Susie worked in Yosemite National Park at the Ahwahnee Hotel in order to support her love of skiing. Her passion for skiing led her to Park City, Utah, where she met and fell in love with Peter Stern. During the early years of her marriage, Susie was able to travel abroad with Peter, visiting several countries in Europe and Asia. They eventually settled in Ridgefield, CT.
An antique and history lover, Susie had an antiques business specializing in duck decoys. This specialization fell in line with her love of birds and birding. Upon selling her antique business, Susie opened a very successful nature shop, The Bird's Nest, in Ridgefield, CT. The shop allowed her to employ her intellect, her salesmanship, and her love of nature.
Upon Peter's death, she sold The Bird's Nest and resettled in Estero, Fl. Missing the seasons and a cooler climate, Susie retired in Williamsburg, VA. She is survived by her sister Lamina, four nieces, Cas, Marie, Muriel and Cathy, and one nephew, Larry.
