Susie was born on April 7, 1931, the daughter of Noah D. and Bertha (Miller) Schlabach. On June 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Delmar Glen Yoder for 50 years, who passed on January 18, 2003. Then, on January 1, 2005, she was united in marriage to Edwin R. Hostetler. She was baptized in her youth and was a member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church. Susie loved to cook and sew, making many quilts and comforters for missions or wherever they were needed. She worked at the Kalonial Townhouse for 20 years. Upon retiring, she spent time reading and putting puzzles together for the crowded closet.

Survivors include her seven step-children: Lynn (Janice) Hostetler, Keith Hostetler, Merle (Mary) Hostetler, Jeryl (Jill) Hostetler, Ryan (Anita) Hostetler, Joy Hostetler, and Sheryl Moreland; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one brother Perry Schlabach; nieces: Linda Tones, Lou Ann Miller, Kathy Schlabach and Jane (Hershberger) Widmer; nephews: Larry Schlabach, Roger Schlabach, Leon Schlabach and Lowell Yoder.

Preceding Susie in death were her parents, her husband Delmar Yoder, her husband Edwin Hostetler, stepson-in-law Frank Moreland, three sisters: Barbara, Bertha, and Leona Schlabach, three brothers: Raymond, John, and Isaiah Schlabach, and her nephew Royce Schlabach.
