Pauline F. (Kaalberg) Murphy, 95, of Washington, formerly of Richmond, passed from this life on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Halcyon House in Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and YouTube pages. Burial will follow at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, from 3 – 7 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be recited at 2:30 PM. A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Catholic Church, or memorial masses may be given in Pauline’s memory.
Pauline Frances was born February 24, 1930, in Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank M. and Frances (Van Aken) Kaalberg. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Murphy in May of 1950. The couple later divorced. Pauline was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and enjoyed bowling, music, dancing, gardening, and watching birds.
Survivors include nine children: Dave (Susie) Murphy of Washington, Steve Murphy of Ft. Myers, FL, Linda Murphy (Zene Kempf), Ang (Jerry) TeBockhorst of Washington, Ron (Carlene) Murphy of Kalona, Jerry (Brenda) Murphy of Washington, Glori (Ted) Fowler of Palm Springs, CA, Jeff (Kristi) Murphy of Washington, Robert (Angie) Murphy of Wellman, 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, one brother Kenneth (Gloria) Kaalberg of Tampa, Fl, and sister Loretta Peterson of Iowa City.
Preceding Pauline in death were her parents, her son Rick and her daughter Lori, grandson Shane Murphy, daughters-in-law Beth Murphy and Carol Murphy, two brothers, Ambrose and Frank (Betty) Kaalberg, and one sister, Ceil Kaalberg.
