Sutton James Alt, 3 months, of Elkton, passed away peacefully, outside watching the sunset in the arms of his mother, surrounded by his family. He was born September 5, 2025 at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia and was the son of Tyler and Kaygen Alt.
Sutton was predeceased by his great-grandmother, Carol Harper and his great-uncle, James Ray Miller.
Sutton loved watching his tv and looking outside. He always enjoyed snuggling and chewing on his hands. Although he was here for a very short time, he touched the lives of many. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Hazel Alt; uncle, Trenton Alt; aunts, Autumn Alt, Hannah Monger, Kynlie Knight; cousins, Aspen, Ariya and Aries, Landon and Anyla; grandparents, Preston Knight and wife, Melissa, Tony Alt and Shari Hughes; great-grandparents, Randall Knight and wife, Vickie, Mary Lou Dean and Gary Wood, Gary Dean and wife, Cindy, Jimmy Dean and wife, Anita, Dale Harper as well as numerous cousins and extended family.
The family would like to thank the UVA NICU nurses; Elizabeth, Sally and Haley for their care of Sutton.
A Funeral Service will be conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Shenandoah Assembly of God with Pastor Carter Dean officiating. Burial to follow at Elk Run Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 12 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
The family requests that everyone wear blue in honor of Sutton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
