Suzan Kay Brown, 77, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Suzan was born on March 14, 1948, in Boone, Iowa, to Herbie and Hazel Schweinefus. She spent her life dedicated to her family and filled her days with warmth, kindness, and quiet strength. She had a passion for crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, cheering on dirt track races, and enjoying the outdoors through camping trips - but nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her family, whom she loved more than anything.
She retired from Rockwell Collins after 48 years of service.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Brown of Fairfax, Iowa; her grandchildren Hunter, Haley, and Ruger; her daughter-in-law Julie Brown of Cedar Rapids and grandchildren Stephanie, Sydney, Savannah, Allen, and Becca. Suzan also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Nancy (Mark) Scheidel of Ossian, Iowa, and Janice Sorensen of Cedar Rapids; her brother Duwayne (Georgie) Schweinefus of Ossian; and her sisters-in-law Joyce Langreck of Decorah and Joanne Schweinefus of Indianola.

Suzan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years Curtis Brown; her son Allen Brown; her parents Herbie and Hazel; her brother Connelly Schweinefus; brother in law Dwight Sorensen; her grandson Rusty Brown; and her granddaughter Kimberly Brown.

A memorial service to honor Suzan's life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, IA. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the memorial service at 3:00 p.m., followed by a reception.

Her love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she cared about will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
