Suzann (Rump) Nonemaker, of White Deer Township, peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Sue was surrounded by the love and prayers of her devoted family as she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, embraced by the grace of God.
Born in Lewisburg to Ethel E. Gates and Mitchel F. Rump Jr., Sue entered the world with a smile and a loving heart. After graduating from Milton High School, she worked at JPM in Lewisburg and later at Chef Boyardee under American Home Food, continuing with Conagra until her early retirement in 2002.
In 1975, Sue met her husband, Dale Nonemaker, at work, where he was her supervisor and she was assigned to the tomato lab. Although she hadn't planned on marriage, God had other plans for her and Dale. They were not blessed with children, which was challenging for Sue due to her deep love for them. However, she often said, 'It's okay, we have lots of nieces and nephews to help spoil.' Sue's boundless love and generous heart left a lasting impression on each of them, shaping their lives with her warmth, guidance, and unconditional support.
After retiring, Sue found her greatest joy in lovingly caring for her cherished nieces and nephews. Her nurturing spirit blessed them with invaluable lessons that shaped their lives.
Later in life, Sue extended her love for children by working as an assistant teacher and eventually a teacher in the HeadStart program, a role she truly cherished. She continued this work until she broke her hip at home and, unfortunately, lost her job after exceeding her 12 weeks of leave, which deeply saddened her.
After recovering from a broken hip, Sue resumed her work in childcare by serving as an early morning bus monitor for the wake-up group, and at different SAC programs. She later joined Mays Drive Inn, where she worked until closing. Suzann loved staying busy and always treated everyone with love, delighting in watching the children grow. She cherished all kids and enjoyed cooking at Mays. Her yearbook described her as having a 'Heart of Gold and a personality to match,' which she certainly did. Her famous advice to everyone was, 'Don't hate anyone; you never know when you might need that person's help.'"
Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 100: A psalm for giving grateful praise. If you were her friend, she was a true friend. Even if you hadn't seen her in a long time, she would greet you with a smile and could always make you laugh."
In addition to her husband, Dale, she is survived by her three brothers: Mitchell Rump and his wife Alice, of Danville, David Rump and his wife Pam, of Mifflinburg, and Donald "Donnie" Rump, of Milton; one sister: JoEllen Thomas and her husband Dave, of Turbotville; and brother-in-law Doug Nonemaker and his wife Debby of Kentucky.
Nieces and nephews: Heather Betz Rump (Danville), Heidi Rump Foresman (Danville), Nikki Rump (Allentown), Donna Jo Christine Thomas (Danville), Amy Troup (Millmont), Mindy Kunkle (York), Andrea Rump (York), Wendy Rowe (Lewisburg), David Thomas (Watsontown), Christopher Rump (Milton), Flarnie Marchon (California), and Grace Priddy (California).
Great nieces and nephews: Rorie Bass Foresman, Jax Foresman, Haylie Betz, Isabella Schock, Skylar Young, Hannah Blyler, Keyan Blyler, Avery Blyler, Reagan and Courtlyn Kunkle, Phoenix, Willow, Deacon, and Piper Rowe, Tristan Nonemaker, Raia Adams, Treyvon Lee, Nevaeh and Zacari Mullen, Christian and Rhettik Thomas, Tatyana and Christopher Rump.
Besides her parents, Sue was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles, her brother Chris Rump, sister-in-law Melanie Rump, niece Hanna Betz, and nephew Brett Allen Rump.
There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 AM on Friday, Sept. 20, at Paradise United Church of Christ, 8105 Paradise Road, Milton, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Doug Schader and Pastor Butch Woolsey, co-officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
Everyone is invited to the White Deer Community Park, 992 White Deer Pike, New Columbia, at 1:00 PM for some light refreshments and fellowship.
