Suzanne “Suzie” Watson Dendy, 77, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and great-aunt, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her immediate family.
Born in Natchez, Mississippi, and proudly the baby of nine, Suzie learned early how to make her voice heard and how to make everyone laugh. She had a gift for turning any get-together into a party, and her warmth filled every room. For more than forty years she lovingly cared for her sister, Patsy and she never missed a chance to bring the family together for the holidays, always with plenty of good food and an extra helping of joy. Suzie was a second-generation member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Eunice Chapter No. 14, in Zachary, LA.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Billy Joe Dendy, and three children: Robynne Broussard (Craig), Christy Wallace (Johnathon), and Bruce Dendy (Rhonda). Suzie also leaves behind her sister, Judi Watson Jarreau; eight grandchildren — Pacee and Talan Wallace; Taylor, Austin (Laura), Isabella, and Savannah Broussard; Chris Accardo (Lolly); and Haley Bourgoyne (Jarred) — and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Captain William O. Watson and Lucille Taylor Watson; and siblings William O. “Billy” Watson Jr., Betty Henderson, Jimmy Watson, Sammy Watson, Robert Watson, Mike Watson, and Patsy Watson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by services at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Resthaven’s Garden of King Solomon.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Viva Senior Living at Oakwood Village, The Hospice of Baton Rouge, and to all the kind and compassionate caregivers who helped Suzie along the way. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Hospice of Baton Rouge - Butterfly Wing, 3600 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, in loving memory of Suzie Dendy.
