Suzanne Faust Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home on Jan. 7, 2026.
Suzanne K Faust of Peru, Indiana, passed away on January 6, 2026 at Stillwater Hospice in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She was born on September 26,1942 in Peru to William J Weinke Sr and Mary Jane Kennedy. She was a 1960 graduate of Peru High School. She was also a 1979 graduate of Indiana University at Kokomo School of Nursing where she earned a BSN. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Suzie worked for a number of years as school secretary at St. John's Lutheran School and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Dukes Memorial Hospital. It was this volunteer work that sparked an interest in the field of nursing. After graduating from IUK she worked at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis before returning to Peru and joining the Continuing Care unit at Dukes Memorial Hospital as Director of Nursing for 14 years. Suzie enjoyed spending her time doating on her granddaughters Molly "Sugar Bear" and Anna Grace "Champ'". Her enthusiasm for the Chicago Cubs was a generations long family tradition. A lifetime sports fan, she followed the Chicago Bears, IU Basketball and the Indiana Fever. She enjoyed working with her cross-stitch needle work and hours at her desk researching her family genealogy. When she could, she enjoyed following her granddaughter's sporting events and school programs. It was only in her later years that you could find her without an Airedale Terrier at her side. Suzie is survived by sons Jon W. Faust of Indianapolis, IN; Dr. Robert E. Faust of Mobile, AL; daughter Jodi K. Mann of Albion, IN and granddaughters Molly Kay Mann and Anna Grace Gatliff. She is also survived by a nephew and nieces, cousins and close family friends. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, William J. Weinke, Jr. Suzie's children would also like to express their appreciation to family friends Dot Lease and Cindy Taylor along with the numerous individuals involved in her medical care. A service celebrating the life of Suzanne K. Faust will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 181 W. Main St. Peru, with Pastor Joshua Dub officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 3:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St. Peru. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church.

She was always friendly in school even if I was a year younger. My life long thanks came when she stopped to comfort and help me after another motorist hit my car and was killed. We were out in the country, so it took some time for help to arrive, but Suzie kept me calm. How perfect that she became a nurse.
