Being a mother and grandmother was Tonia's most loved title of all. Tonia is survived by Steven Ray of Peru; her children Sydney Steiner of Whiteland, IN, Kreighton Ray of Peru, Casey Ray of Peru, and Carson Ray (Nicholas Ray) of Peru; grandchildren Eli Steiner, Jameson Steiner, and a granddaughter on the way; a brother Richie L. Ashley II and his wife Tracy and their children McKinley & Fletcher Ashley of Peru. She was preceded in death by her parents. A service celebrating the life of Tonia D. Ray will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St. Peru, with Alex McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in the Rankin Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the funeral home. My heart hurts for Tonia's family today . Im sorry this bright light is gone from your lives. Tonia always had a smile and a friendly word every time I seen her. She was a blessing to know and I for one beleive our Savior is holding her tight in His arms. She will truly be missed.

I met Tonia in 2021. Being an introvert, she scared me! But oh her love for life drew me in, and I loved to hear her stories and watch her quickly pick herself up after setbacks. She loved her family fiercely. I am heartbroken. We shared about being moms of adult kids. We shared about aging. We shared about music. And we shared about God. She was a precious force! And I will miss her very, very much.
