Carl E King, 100, of Marion, passed away at 4:44 pm on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in Peru, Indiana, on Thursday, June 4, 1925, to Cecil and L. Esther (Edwards) King.

Carl grew up in Peru and graduated from Peru High School in 1943. Carl served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1946 with overseas service on Leyte and Luzon of the Philippine Islands. After the war, Carl graduated from Purdue with a degree in mechanical engineering and production management in 1951. He was employed by General Tire/Gen Corp in Marion and retired in 1992 after 41 years of service. Carl was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening and yard work and after retirement became a long-term caregiver for his wife, Leila. Carl and Leila Hatton were married on May 14, 1949 and were married for 63 years prior to her death October 1, 2012.

Survivors include children, Robert C. (Linda) King, Ypsilanti, MI, Cheryl K. (Doug) Smith, Memphis, TN, Rodney M. (Karin) King, Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, Kevin, Campbell, and Kathleen; great-grandchildren, Austin, Sawyer, and Merrick; sister-in-law Suzanne King, Kokomo; nieces Karen and Stacy; and nephew, Brian.

Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald E King.

Per Carl's wishes, he will be cremated and entombed and there will be no services.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
