Suzanne Saddlemire Obituary
With profound love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Suzanne (Sue) Havens Saddlemire of Richboro, Pennsylvania, who died peacefully at home on November 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. A cherished wife, devoted mother/grandmother and dedicated teacher, she touched countless lives through both her family and her calling to nurture young minds.
Sue was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Camille and Nelson Havens. She attended Bowling Green State University where she met Steve, her husband and steadfast partner for over 50 years. Her marriage was built on friendship, laughter, and unwavering commitment, as they shared their mutual love of community service and travel (she was proud of visiting all 50 states and many countries). As a mother to Andrea (Jake) Wolf, Stephanie (Trent) DeVore and Mark (Alison) Saddlemire, and grandmother (Grammy) to Avery, Maya, Kelsey, Lane, and Keira, she was the heart of her family, offering endless encouragement, wisdom, and generosity. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest pride, and she loved sharing in their activities and celebrating all of their achievements. She looked forward to family vacations together each summer where countless memories were created.
As a teacher of the gifted program at Goodnoe Elementary, she did more than just teach social studies. Her passion for education ensured that every student felt seen, challenged, and believed in, and she dedicated her career to helping bright, curious minds flourish.
Sue was a committed volunteer throughout her life, helping to lead her kids' Girl Scout/Cub Scout troops and teaching citizenship preparation classes for those wishing to become Americans through the Welcoming the Stranger program. In addition, Sue was active in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Washington Crossing serving on the Board and participating in social justice and personnel committees.
Beyond her roles, she was known for her warmth, her willingness to do anything for others, and her enjoyment of a good book, healthy debate, or fun challenge. She fully embraced life and wanted every occasion to be special and meaningful. Sue loved capturing experiences on camera and leaves a lasting legacy of photos that will ensure the memories live on forever.
In addition to her loving husband and beloved children/grandchildren, she treasured time spent with her sister Cindy (Tim) Gerbick, many extended family members, and her dear friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her memory by supporting the Suzanne Saddlemire Goodnoe Elementary Gifted Program Scholarship Fund.
