Sybil Cleo Short, age 73, of Bostic, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Sybil was born Saturday, May 10, 1952, to the late Theodore Vandyke and Cleo McCurry Vandyke. Sybil was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She loved reading her Bible and doing cross stitch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Judy Dianne Vandyke, Troy Vandyke, Larry Vandyke, Arnold Vandyke, Dennis Vandyke, and Tim Vandyke.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of fifty years, Rodney Short; daughters, Lynthia Queen (Gilbert), Nichol Short, Sommer Cook, (Beryl); siblings, Kathy Atkins, Gail Chapman (Tim), Loretta Hoyle, Betty Jane Hartsell, and Mark Vandyke; grandchildren, Destiny Coffey, (Todd), Elijah Cook (Carly Spangler), Kirsten Littlejohn (Ray), Dylan Cook (Anna Ashley), Gabriel Short, (Alicia), Tinley Cook, Isaiah Queen, Tara Chapman (Jared Terry); great-grandchildren, Carrington Coffey, Kaius Littlejohn, Aria Short, Silas Short, Kinsley Terry and Brynleigh Terry.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, October 4th at Calvary’s Cross Baptist Church, 105 Mt. Zion Church Rd. Lawndale, NC 28090, with Rev. Billy Boone and Rev. Tommy Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:30 pm before the service. Private burial at a later time.
Send all flowers to Calvary’s Cross Baptist Church. The family will gather at the Queen’s residence.
