Sybil A. Sullins, age 84, of St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at her home.
She was born on September 15, 1940, in Marion, IL, to Cecil Charles and Ethel Mae (Gunter) Sullins.
Sybil was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a Christian and enjoyed religion and politics.
She was employed with the government and had top secret clearance that she was very proud of. Her work with the government allowed her to move around and work for the Naval Air Division, Nation Archives and Defense Mapping. She enjoyed careers in Los Angeles, California, New York, Destin, FL and St. Louis.
Sybil was devoted in her work and was very intelligent. She enjoyed conversations with just about everyone she met. She was unique, often witty and very resilient. She also loved cooking, especially for her family and friends. The countless wonderful memories created will now be cherished by those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her children, James Kenneth Wilbanks, Andrea Mae Wilbanks and Stephanie Lee Wilbanks; grandchildren, Michael James McClanahan, Kendra Ann McClanahan and Zachary Lindell McClanahan; sisters, Eloise Hazel and Glenda Mae Hastings; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Charles Sullins and Ethel Mae Chapman; daughter, Jamie Lynn McClanahan; sisters, Sue Payne and Lois "Peggy" Orendoff; and brothers, Charles Sullins, Jr., and Madison Sullins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
A graveside service will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Marion, IL on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Carney presiding. Those attending the service are asked to gather directly at the cemetery just prior to 12:00 p.m.
