Syble Joy Picker, 91, of Searcy, Ark., left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family and God's Spirit.
Syble was born on Jan. 14, 1935, near Ridgely, Tenn. Her family eventually moved to East St. Louis, Ill., where she met Fred Picker Jr. who would become her husband for 74 years until her death. She spent her life devoted to him, raising their Christian family and serving others wherever their path led. They moved to Searcy, Ark., in 1974. Although there were a few years living in other places, she considered Searcy as her home. She was a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Searcy.
Syble was an example of a life of quiet service to so many. She loved her church family, volunteering and traveling. Her greatest joy, however, was her family of faithful Believers including four children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Fred, she is succeeded by her son, Keith Picker, and his wife, Cheryl (Kayser) Picker, of Searcy, Ark.; her son, Kurt Picker, and his wife, Roxy (Houtchens) Picker, of Dawsonville, Ga.; her daughter, Brenda (Picker) Seawel, and her husband, Morris Seawel, of Searcy, Ark.; her son, Bruce Picker, and his wife, Lauri (Shirley) Picker, of Colleyville, Texas; and her sister, Judy (Johnson) Baker, and her husband, David Baker, of Shreveport, La. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Georgia (Murray) Johnson of West Monroe, La.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the West Side Church of Christ in Searcy, Ark., with family visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
