Amory - Sybyl Maxey Forrester, 73, passed to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Tupelo, MS. She was born on September 3, 1951, in Crawford, MS. to the late Sam Bedford Maxey and Dorothy Hudson Maxey.
Sybyl grew up in Artesia in a loving family with three sisters and one brother. She graduated from Stephan D. Lee High School. Sybyl worked in maintenance at Holnam Cement plant. Sybyl married the love of her life Jerry Forrester, and they had 24 wonderful years together. She was blessed with four sons, Shawn, Patrick, Jonathan, and Lee and one daughter, Ivy.
She is described by those who knew her best as caring, loving and fiery at times. She had a deep love for her family, especially her twelve grandchildren and she enjoyed spending time with them. A Baptist by faith, she was a member of East Amory Baptist Church and considered members of her church as not just friends but family. She was an avid Mississippi State fan and enjoyed gardening and her collection of pictures. If you ask her, she could be quick to tell you her greatest accomplishment and greatest joy was raising her family. Her best friends were her sisters Dottie, Jenny and Doris and friends Sue Shelton and Robbie Johnson.
While her family will miss her, they take great comfort in knowing she is completely healed and is in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two sons, Shawn Maxey and Lee Shelton; daughter, Ivy Nicole Forrester; and brother, Larry Maxey.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry L. Forrester; two sons, Patrick Forrester (Kasey), Amory, MS and Jonathan Patterson, Tupelo, MS; three sisters, Dottie Dewberry, Maben, MS, Virginia Box (Wayne), Caledonia, MS, and Doris Moree (Wiley), Starkville, MS; twelve grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
