Sydney Roy Menzie, 95, of Sunrise, Florida, passed awaypeacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
He was born on June 9, 1930, in Mount Rosser, Jamaica, to Arthur Menzie and Ludia Graham. In 1962, Sydney migrated to London, England, seeking a better life for his wife, Madge, and children, Jennifer and Errol. After losing his first wife to illness, he persevered with strength and grace, eventually building a full and meaningful life. Many years later, he reunited with the second love of his life, Phyllis, in New York.
Sydney was a humble man, devoted to his family and friends. He worked hard to provide for them, and though he didn’t give lots of hugs and kisses, his quiet love and generosity spoke volumes. He was the kind of man who would give you his last dime, just ask his grand- and great-grandchildren, who believed he was the richest man alive.
After retiring, he and his beloved wife settled in Florida, where he found great joy in gardening. He took pride in growing fruits and vegetables and loved sharing them with others—it brought him true happiness.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; siblings Delores, Floribel, David, Kenneth, Violet, and Marcus; daughter, Sangyne, and great-granddaughter Nevaeh.
He is survived by his children: Jennifer and Selwart of Sunrise, Errol of England, and Patrick of Jamaica; his sister, Albertha of New York; his grandchildren: Darren of Sunrise, and Dominique (Dewayne) of Ormond Beach; and great-grandchildren: Kingston, Gabby, Eli, and Tasha. He is also survived by his cousin Rebecca of Sunrise; nieces and nephews: Tony, Sandra, Hugh, Cherry, and Sharon. He is fondly remembered by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of special friends.
