Sylvester Oden Obituary
Sylvester Earl Oden, 75, of Havelock, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City.
Sylverster worked as a commercial fisherman in the southern waters, dedicating his career to life on the sea. His work reflected a deep connection to the water and a commitment to the demanding rhythms of the fishing industry.
Known for his love of conversation and humor, Sylverster enjoyed being around people and brought laughter wherever he went. Those who knew him will remember his easygoing nature and the joy he found in sharing stories and jokes.
The family will celebrate his life privately.
He is survived by his sister, Dollie Taylor of Beaufort; Delphine Hacker of Beaufort; brother, William Oden of Havelock; brother, Kenny Wallace of Havelock; sister, Vickie Loagan of Beaufort; brother, Ricky Wallace of Havelock; sister, Loretta Oden of Havelock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Atlantic Oden and his daughter, Suzette Henry.
