1944 - 2024
Sylvia Sue Arrand age 79 of Posen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, February 5, 2024.
She was born in Flint on February 21, 1944 to Adam and Elsie (Crooks) Ceglarek.
Sylvia graduated from Bentley Senior High School in Burton and retired from General Motors Flint Metal Fabrication UAW Local 659.
Sylvia is survived by her 47-year soulmate, Justin Darga; 2 children, Milissa (Gregory) Moreau of Burton, Anthony (Judy) Arrand of Saginaw; 6 grandchildren, Adam Moreau of Nevada, Amanda (Chad Bray) Moreau of North Branch, Nicole Arrand of Flint, Teri Kay (Taylor) Corkins of Clio, Norman Watson of Warren and Robert (Brianna Villegas) Watson of Saginaw; 10 beautiful great grandchildren, Chloe & Caleb Moreau, Adelynn & Christian Bray, Lillyena Arrand, Cruz, Colson, Elizabeth & Nova Corkins and Luca Watson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Elsie Ceglarek and a brother, Roger Ceglarek. "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow" and Sylvia planted many. Holding on to the memories of her father, she spent most of her able years in nature, enjoying some of her favorite pastimes including fishing, gardening, mushroom picking and birdwatching. The World Wildlife Federation, the National Audubon Society and the Arbor Day Foundation are just a few causes Sylvia supported through her deep-rooted moral commitment to preserve the positive emotion, calmness, joy and creativity Nature can provide. Sylvia absolutely loved immersing herself in reading, music, fine dining and above all, family. Her devotion behind every gourmet meal, wisdom in every piece of advice and compassion behind every hug, brought family members together generation after generation. She carried with her the intelligence to identify different generational preferences and find a way to make you feel appreciated while teaching the principles and elements necessary for a successful life. Her secret: "Sometimes you just have to just sit all alone and cry, get it all out, that way when you're done, you can be who they need you to be."
Our families and friends mourn the loss of an incredible source of love, guidance and inspiration coming from a woman who provided the warmest hugs, sweetest memories, looked past all our mistakes and showed us what it means to live a life full of fun, kindness and generosity.
Inurnment will take place following a memorial service at St. Casimir Catholic Church in the spring.
