Sylvia Ratcliff Carey entered eternal rest at Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the age of 75. She was a native of Tylertown, MS and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Sylvia was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School. She retired after 28 years of service as Cardiac Cath Tech with Tulane Medical Center. Loving mother of Ashaki (Archie C.) Brown. Devoted grandmother of Averie and Amanie. Daughter of the late Cleo and Mildred Ratcliff. Sister of Betty Ratcliff, Billy (Charlene) Ratcliff, and the late Levon “Leo” Ratcliff, Eddie Ratcliff, Lacy Ratcliff, and Jacqueline Henery. Niece of Pearlie Johnson, and Theodore (Leola) Robey. Sister in law of Maxie Jefferson Ratcliff. Former wife of the late Rufus Lee Carey, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of New Life Church of Christ Holiness are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at New Life Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A., 5918 Babylon St. New Orleans, LA. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 9:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service at the above named church. Interment: New Home Church of Christ Holiness Cemetery-Jayess, MS. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA.
