Edcouch - Sylvia Castro, 64, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at South Texas Health System in Weslaco.
Mrs. Castro was born January 4, 1959, daughter of Eusebio Hernandez and Olivia Hernandez in Edinburg, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother David Hernandez.
Mrs. Sylvia Castro was many things to many people. As per friends, colleagues and family she was an incredible mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mentor, friend and educator who impacted the lives of many students and friends alike. She had a wonderful personality, sense of humor and love of life. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Adalberto Castro Jr. (Angelica), Alejandro Castro, Alan Castro (Abby); brothers, Eusebio Hernandez Jr., Javier Hernandez, Jaime Hernandez; sisters, Marina Flores and Yolanda Lusingnan. Also surviving her are 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of the Heavens in Elsa. Funeral mass service is scheduled for Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa, with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Park.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home in Elsa.
