Sylvia Roberta Flint, 64, of Akron, passed away on December 29, 2024. A lifelong resident of Akron, she was born on May 12, 1960 to the late Robert and Callie {Hardy} Flint.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia is preceded in death by her brothers Jesse J. Williamson Jr., Frank J. Williamson, Curtis Williamson and sister Sandra Garrett.
Sylvia is survived by her loving sisters Janese (Roosevelt) Engram and Bernadette Williamson; special nieces Tavia Bodiford, Diettra Engram, LaNell Brantley and Denise Williamson; special nephews DeShannon "Ralph" Williamson, Troy Williamson; special cousin Deborah Manning of Southfield, MI; sisters-in-law Willie Mae Williamson, Rose Bowen, Hazel Clayton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Sheba Harris, Elizabeth Ladner, Wilma Williams and Rosalyn Davis.
Sylvia attended West Junior High, and graduated from Buchtel High School in 1978. While working as a YCC employee, Sylvia earned her Associate's Degree from Southern Ohio College, and became a longtime employee at Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area, now Cuyahoga Valley National Park. She began work as a dispatcher in the resource management department, was then promoted to project clerk in the Maintenance Division, and finally retired as a program analyst in that division after 34+ years of service.
Sylvia first received Christ as the head of her life at an early age at Prince of Peace Baptist Church, where she was baptized. She served as a member of the choir, the finance committee, the auxiliary committee, and helped to prepare dinners after church alongside her mother, Callie. Sylvia was named Daughter of the Year by the congregation, and she remained strong in her faith until her passing.
Sylvia loved bowling, cooking, gardening, shopping, traveling, quilting, knitting, puzzles, and cheering on the Cavs and the Browns. Above all, she loved being together with her family and loved ones.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Prince of Peace Baptist Church, 844 Garth Ave. Akron, OH 44320 on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service that begins at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
