Sylvia Irma Franks

Sylvia Irma Franks, 80 of Horn of the Moon Road, East Montpelier, Vermont, passed away on May 29, 2024, at the McClure Miller Respite House. Sylvia was born January 10, 1944 in Adamant, VT the daughter of Homer and Irene (Wheeler) Slayton, Granddaughter to Guy and Izzy Wheeler and Jerry and Enola Slayton.
She married Robert Allen Franks, Sr. on June 21, 1968. Together they raised and loved five children. A fond memory of her loving husband of almost 50 years before his passing on February 23, 2018, was them waltzing on the dance floor. The memories will last forever for all of us.
Sylvia was employed by the Clothes Pin Factory, Sprague Electric, Vermont College, Cabot Hosiery, and for nearly 30 years as a Home Knitter for Specialties in Wool; as well as House cleaner and Daycare provider.
She was always knitting or crocheting, creating extra special blankets, baby sweaters, booties and hats for her family and friends. She took much pride in other hobbies like maple sugaring, canning vegetables, making fabulous pies, pickles and caring for her many farm animals.
Picking Huckleberries in Pennsylvania with Bob's family was always a special time for her. A few other favorite times, the annual Champlain Valley Fair, her and Bob spending time on their pond and most of all enjoying time with her family.
Sylvia is survived by her two sisters Marjorie, husband Ken Santor and their family, Elaine Eastman, and her family. Several Brother and Sister In-laws and their families; Five Children and their families: Lloyd Franks and his children Charlene Franks, Megan Franks and partner Bill, and Shane Franks. Grandchildren Jazmine and Fiancée Donnie, Harlee, Levi, Trineil, Brooke, Emma and Bentlie. Great Grandchild Omery, Denise and Husband Bob Felch and their children Jessica Aseltine and husband James, Jason Felch, Jared Felch and wife Hannah. Grandchildren Wyatt, Rylan, Tessa, Elijah, Ava, Ezekiel and Adalyn, Robert Franks, Jr and partner JoAnn Herring and children WJ Franks and wife Catherine, Liza Chizmar and husband Jason, Serena Franks and partner Nicholas Williams, and Krista Franks and partner Matt Shangraw; Grandchildren Coleson, Nash and Nora, Ginger Franks and her children Mitzy Dunbar and husband Ken and Garett Peace. Grandchildren Finnley, Madyson and Bennett, Heidi Thibault and Husband Jon and Children Ashley and Jaron.
Sylvia loved her grand, great grand and great great grandchildren more than life itself. With a huge smile and glow around her each time she saw or spoke with or about them.
Memorial contributions can be made to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, McClure Respite House, or a charity of your choice.
Services will be at the Adamant Church on June 21, 2024 at 10 am. Burial will take place following the service at Doty Cemetery, Dodge Rd, East Montpelier, Vermont. A gathering at Capital City Grange in Montpelier will follow immediately after graveside services.
