Sylvia M. Jarog

Sylvia M Jarog, nee Wisnewski, age 95, of Poplar Grove, Illinois. Beloved wife of the late Walter; loving mother of Dean (Patricia) Jarog, and Andrew Jarog; devoted grandmother of Jonathan (Marci) Jarog, James (Juthamart) Jarog, Timothy Jarog, Noah Jarog, and Jacob Jarog; great-grandmother of Eva, Caroline, and Clifford; aunt of many nieces and nephews, and her dear friend Carol Pesdan. Preceded in death by her parents Stella, nee Stanke, and Michael Wisnewski, as well as her siblings; Frank (Sally) Wisnewski, Eleanor (Bert) Booker, Alex (Marian) Wisnewski, Josephine (Harry) Wadzinski, Lillian Wojciechowski, Margaret (Lester) Haaker, Raymond (Lucille) Wisnewski, Theresa (Don) Green, and sisters-in-law Louise Jarog, and Josephine (Joseph) Hyzy.
Sylvia was born in Edgar, Wisconsin and grew up on a dairy farm. She moved to Chicago as a young woman to work as a bookkeeper at various companies. An avid ballroom dancer, she met Walter Jarog at the Aragon Ballroom and married in 1950 and raised two sons. She lived in Seattle, Chicago, Joliet, St. Louis, Streamwood, Rockford, Lindenhurst, Madison, Wi., and Poplar Grove, IL. A widow for 27 years, she became an active volunteer and joined several social clubs in the Belvedere/Poplar Grove area including the Red Hat Society, Silver Belles Choir (St. James Church), Single Friends, Belvidere Women's Club, 50+ Bible & Rosary Group, the Candlewick Flames and more. Sylvia enjoyed music, reading, flowers and gardening, travel, playing cards, ballroom and line dancing and being a volunteer at St. James School.
Visitation Monday, May 15, 2023, 10:00 AM until time of Celebration of Life at 11:00 am, Funeral Mass following at 12:15 PM at St. Alexander's Catholic Church, 300 S Cornell Villa Park, Illinois. Interment at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Boone County Council on Aging - Keen Age Center, Belvedere, Il or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America are appreciated.
