Sylvia R. LaBauve born on April 30th, 1949, in Bucktown, LA went peacefully into eternal rest on August 24th, 2025 while at home with her family in Marrero, LA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Michael Rodriguez and Julia Oakman-Smith.
Sylvia was a dedicated worker within the Jefferson Parish School Board as well as Meadowcrest Hospital. She also spent many years working in Smitty's Donut shop, which was owned by her mother and step father, where she and her children spent most of their time. This is where her children learned hard work ethic, dedication, and resilience to be able to overcome any obstacles they may face in life. Her favorite pass times were sewing, crafting, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her late husband Louis J. LaBauve Sr., her son Louis J. LaBauve Jr., her brothers Richard, Kenny, and Franky, as well as her grand-daughter Rain Michelle LaBauve. In addition, her beloved Boston Bull Terrier, Mr. Tibbs.
She is survived by her sisters Linda Muhleisin and Tanya Jude. As well as her children Terressa (Paul), Marie (Troy), Marjorie (Kevin), William (Adrian), and Julia (Gus). She also leaves behind a sister-in-law Marian Treme, as well as her grandchildren Jeffrey, Josh, Ken, Kody, Jules, Troy Michael, Olivia, Darren, Kevin, and Jade. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers and cards, we ask that any donations being made go to St. Joseph's Hospice Foundation to aid with hospice care for patients in the future. Special thanks to the people that made her last days comfortable, her nurse Rachel Stewart, RN and Tasha Tyler and all the St. Joseph's Hospice affiliates.
There will be a private service held by the family on August 26th, 2025 at Mothe Funeral Home in Algiers. With extremely appreciative hearts, we give special thanks to the Mothe Funeral Home family for taking special care of our mother in this difficult time.
