Sylvia Mandel passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025 at the amazing age of 101. She was a remarkable woman, full of life who always took a genuine interest in the lives of her family and friends.

Sylvia was born on February 27, 1924 in New Jersey. She adored her father, William Mandel, and inherited her strong and outspoken personality from her mother, Fanny Warchafsky Mandel. Sylvia grew up in a very close-knit family with her brothers Charlie, Alan, and Morris, and her younger sister, Frances (Dudi). Her father was a self-made clothing designer and manufacturer and her mother was a dedicated homemaker. Sylvia spent many days with her father at his factory sparking her interest in fashion and leading to a career in retail and sales later in life.

Shortly after the end of World War 11, Sylia met and married Michael Aramanda. She is survived by their two boys, Robert and Wayne, and her loving foster children Gayle Serra, and Glen Ladner along with his wife Kasey and their son Danny. Her foster son, Steven Ladner, predeceased her. Sylvia also leaves behind her beloved daughter-in-law, Maria, her two grandchildren, Kyle and Maria, and her great grandsons Michael, Francesco and Bradley.

Sylvia was a long-time resident of Long Beach and continued to work into her mid-80's. She was always cooking up a storm and was best known for her delicious Sunday meals. Feeding her family and friends was a top priority for most of her life. When she wasn't working, cooking, or taking care of grandchildren, Sylvia could be found reading a good book or playing cards with dear friends.

Sylvia is remembered for her strong spirit and energy. In her later years, she developed a keen wit and had a real knack for making those around her laugh. Sylvia will be missed by those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace and be united with her wonderful parents, siblings and the rest of her family members and dear friends who have gone before her
