Sylvia Jean McManus, 84, of Spring City and formerly of Dayton, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on April 5, 1939, in Curwensville, Pa., the daughter of the late Otto and Elizabeth (McCloskey) Williammee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Tom McManus; her sister, Mary Tropea; and her brother, Edwin Williammee.
Sylvia received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and taught French and English for many years, including at Rhea County High School. She was a pastor's wife and a member of Morgantown Baptist Church where her husband was the pastor. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, listening to music, praying, playing the harmonica and her dogs.
Sylvia is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen McManus and Rebecca McManus, both of Jasper, Tenn.; her brother, John (Cathy) Williammee of Palm Coast, Fla.; and her sister, Elizabeth (Daniel) Hind of Palm Coast, Fla.
Funeral services for Sylvia will be in the Vanderwall Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at noon with Rev. Jim Woychuk officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
