Sylvia Simmons Obituary
Sylvia Simmons, a beloved member of the Jacksonville community, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on August 24, 1939, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Johnnie L. Crews, Sr. and Annie Pearl Crews, both of whom preceded her in death. Sylvia was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mancie Crews, Marion Andrews, Johnnie L. Crews, Jr., Elizabeth Harris, and Darnell Crews.
Sylvia dedicated her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Duval County Health Department. Her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to her profession touched the lives of many in the community.
Outside of her career, Sylvia found joy in watching NBA and NFL games, particularly supporting her favorite teams, the Golden State Warriors and Kansas City Chiefs. She would eagerly cheer them on, bringing excitement to every game.
Sylvia Simmons will forever be remembered for her kind heart, selflessness, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her legacy will continue to inspire and touch the lives of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Her dedication to her faith was an integral part of her life, and her presence in the church community will be deeply missed.
Sylvia's memory will forever be cherished by her children, Carl D. Simmons, Jr., Gail Williams (Predolia III), Dana Lewis (Ron Sr.), and Tashai Wards. She also leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren, Tracy Bryant (Kenneth), Tara Maddox, Corey Simmons, Predolia Williams IV, Genard Williams, Kamron Williams, Ron Lewis Jr., Marcus Lewis, Jasmine Lewis, Kamillah Gant, and Mikel Gant II. Additionally, Sylvia is survived by twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her siblings, Deloris Robinson, Curtis Crews (Sharon), and Ollie Brown, sister-in-law, Clara Crews, as well as her devoted friends, Barbara Thompson and Martha Hudson. Sylvia also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
