Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Robert Earl Warwick,

her first husband John Joseph Spisak Sr.,

her mother Rossie, her brother Royce Jackson Payne, and her nephew Royce Jackson Payne Jr.,

and many other beloved family members.

Sylvia is survived by her brother David (Bubba) Welsh and his wife Jennifer (Leggs) Welsh,

her sister Kathy Dibiase and her husband Russell Dibiase and children,

her sister in law Kathy Payne and children.

She also left a lasting legacy with

her children, John Joseph, Joseph Stuart, Rossie Victoria, Michael David and his wife Laura Welsh,

Rita Marie, and her honorary son Derwin Alvin Estep and his wife Dolly,

and many grandchildren and great grandchildren

Sylvia (Sibby) was born in Gap Mills, West Virginia to Rossie W. McGuire.

The “Home Place” as she called it, was where she spent her early years and loved to visit for family

reunions and get togethers. She shared this love with her kids and we all loved the time spent there.

She was raised in Brentwood, Maryland by Rossie and Roy Payne.

She attended Bladensburg High School and worked several jobs including

her last position as a bookkeeper for Vic’s Electric Company

Mom was a Life Member and past President of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

She belonged to Post 110 in Mount Rainer and Post 131 in Colmar Manor

Mom loved many things including jig saw puzzles, crocheting, and playing card and board games.

She loved reading including her Washington Post newspaper and her morning cup of McDonald’s coffee

There were many wonderful nights spent at the dining room table of her mom’s house playing cards and

laughing with Aunts and Uncles. She was an avid animal lover. As children we would bring

home strays of many types and sizes and none were ever turned away. There were the usual dogs and

cats, fish, turtles, Guinee pigs, and the unusual club footed chicken !!!

She continued to rescue stray cats including her beloved Teddy up until the end.

She loved her family and children fiercely and everyone knew it. She expressed her love constantly.

Mom’s last few years were spent in the loving environment of Rosemary and Mr. E’s

Harmony Rose assisted living home along with their wonderful staff to which she grew very fond of.
