Sylvia Wurst Obituary

Sylvia (Brixius) Wurst, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Sylvia is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Don; her daughters, Julie and husband Jeff McGrath, and Joan and husband John Szurek; and her seven beloved grandchildren: Deborah, Alyssa, and Angela McGrath, and Rebekah, Rachel, Rose, and Robert Szurek. She is also survived by two brothers, Roderick Brixius of Pierz and Daniel (Lee) Brixius of Portland, OR; one sister, Esther (Fred) Pelzer of Little Falls; and two sisters-in-law, Carole Wurst of St. Cloud and Sandra Brixius of Buckman.

Preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Julia; her parents-in-laws: Fred B. and Anna (Fuchs) Wurst; sisters: Jeanette Ploof and Doris Radziej; brother: Gordon Brixius; nieces: Julie Ploof and Linda (Radziej) Pilarski; brothers-in-law: Jack Radziej and Don Ploof and Fred Wurst; and sister-in-law: Janet Brixius.

Earlier today

Sylvia will be missed. When we moved into our townhouse ten years ago, she and Don were the fist ones to welcome us with freshly baked cookies. She always kept our community center nicely decorated. Our condolences to the family.
