T L Atkinson was born April 15, 1937 in McNairy County, TN, the son of the late J. T. Atkinson and Nellie Louise Hodge Atkinson.
He was united in marriage to "Fannie" Sheffield on September 9, 1960. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2014.
T L was a member of the Center Ridge United Pentecostal Church where he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He was ordained minister. He retired from General Electric after 30 years of service. He always found a way to provide for his family by any means necessary. He has worked on a pipeline, cutting timber, construction and even flower delivery. He certainly could do anything he set out to do.
This hardworking man found time to enjoy some of his favorite things to do; deer and turkey hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Atkinson departed this life on January 28, 2024 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 9 Months, 13 Days.
He is survived by three sons: Mike Atkinson and wife Julie, Jeff Atkinson, and Jason Atkinson and wife Sonya; a brother, Rex Atkinson; five sisters: Mary Ann Luker and husband James, Darlene Hamm and husband Jim, Rachel King, Janie Taylor and Freda Smith and husband Kevin; four grandchildren: Matthew, Casey, Abbi, and Sloan Atkinson; two great grandchildren, Stella and Darla Atkinson; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Lynn Atkinson; a grandson, Wesley Atkinson; two sisters, Madge Newsom and Dorene Atkinson; two brothers, Tunnie Joe Atkinson and Grover Atkinson; second wife Dottie Holt who passed away on December 1, 2021.
