With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, T Jay Brizzee, at the age of 44, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. T Jay Brizzee was born on November 21, 1980, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Val and Nelia Brizzee. He was the sixth of seven children, and was a great support to his family. He attended and graduated from Madison High School in 1999. After high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He loved those he served and stayed in touch with many of his friends in Brazil. Following his mission, he attended BYU-I, starting as a history major. He then met his beautiful and beloved wife, Jennifer Adams, and he quickly realized that she was his entire world. They were married in 2005 in the Idaho Falls temple.
T Jay went on to pursue several degrees, including a master's in occupational therapy and a doctorate in physical therapy at the University of St. Augustine in Florida. During this time, T Jay and Jennifer had 2 daughters, Hope and Olivia Brizzee. After receiving his degree, his small family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they welcomed their son, Nixon, and finally completed their family with a beautiful daughter, Tessa. T Jay utilized both of his degrees as a physical and occupational therapist while raising his family. He gave his heart to helping others in both his professional and personal life.
T Jay was a dedicated family man who adored his wife and children. He would do anything to make them laugh using his wit and humor. He had a great love for his brothers and sisters, especially his younger brother, James, who had a special place in his heart. T Jay was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the classics, including Watership Down, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Dune. Another pastime he enjoyed was watching and sharing his favorite movies with his family. His family remembers his love for movies such as Lonesome Dove, Jeremiah Johnson, and Star Trek. He had a passion for learning, especially history and philosophy and spent countless hours expanding his knowledge. He loved sharing all he learned with others. T Jay would never admit to losing a game of Trivial Pursuit. He also enjoyed many genres of music. Some of his favorites were Johnny Cash, George Ezra, and the Master and Commander Soundtrack. He enjoyed anything thought-provoking and was excited to share his discoveries with those he loved.
At an early age, he discovered his love for plants, animals, and the outdoors. Because of his big heart, he loved rescuing and caring for many animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, bees, raccoons, porcupines, skunks, and foxes etc. He spent many happy hours with his brothers in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. One of his favorite pastimes was taking his kids on nature excursions to his favorite childhood retreats.
T Jay had a deep adoration for his friend and brother, Jesus Christ, and spent many years of his life serving in numerous callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Although T Jay had many challenges throughout his life, he was grateful for the gift of the Atonement, and his faith in Jesus Christ never wavered. Because of this, he had strong empathy for those around him. He never stopped trying to overcome, and his example and courage will always live on in the lives of his family and friends.
T Jay was preceded in death by his father, Val H Brizzee; his mother, Nelia Rowena Cook Brizzee; and his brother, James David Brizzee. T Jay is survived by his wife, Jennifer Adams Brizzee, and his children, Hope, Olivia, Nixon Jay, and Tessa Jennifer Brizzee.
