T. Chester Culver - Clemson, SC T. Chester Culver, 92, of 500 Downs Loop died Tuesday, November 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Catherine Foshee Culver. Born in Wadsworth, AL, Chet was a son of the late William James and Eliza Amanda Smith Culver. He was a 1940 graduate of Auburn University and began his career with B. F. Goodrich Chemical Company where he served in various capacities in different plants. He then moved to Clemson in 1952 where he became the Regional Sales Manager and Technical Representative for the Southeast Region. He later moved to Atlanta and served as Office Manager prior to his retirement in 1981. The Culvers then moved back to the Clemson area where they rejoined the First Baptist Church of Clemson. Chet was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of two investment clubs. Through the years he loved entertaining and being entertained by his four granddaughters. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Carol Ferree and husband, Roy of Easley; and Joy Ferree and husband, M. E. "Butch" of Clemson; grandchildren, Jackie O'Hara and husband, Jerry of Warrenton, VA; Megan Cobb and husband, Al of Chicago, IL; Gay Eitenmiller and husband, Tommy of Ballground, GA; and Cary Blackwell and husband, Tommy of Clemson; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Daniel, Maura Kate, Owen and John O'Hara; Alex and Matthew Cobb; Erin, Thomas and Mason Eitenmiller; and Lila Blackwell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Hubert Russell Culver, James Rudolph Culver, Sylvan Dekalb Culver and Graham Rudder Culver. A drop-in and Celebration of Remembrance will be held for family and friends from 3 to 5 PM, Sunday, November 14 at the home of Butch and Joy Ferree, 215 Strawberry Lane, Clemson, SC 29631. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301 or to Alzheimers Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Anderson, SC 29621.
