Naomi was born on August 1, 1936, in Washington DC. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Thelma Garner Mitchell. She worked for PEPCo as a customer information representative. She was one of the founding members of the Great Falls Historical Society and the Photo Archivist. Also, a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband Irvin E. Whetzel, Jr. and two sons, Ross Lee Whetzel and Christopher Irvin Whetzel.
She is survived by 3 children, Julia Artz (Dana), William Whetzel (Veronica), James Whetzel (Beth), 5 grandchildren, Melanie, Amanda, Caitlin, CookiE, and Daniel and 3 great grandchildren, Nikolai, Thomas, and Clayton.
