Tab Ray West

Tab Ray West, age 57, of Gravois Mills, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in his home with family at his bedside. He was born June 15, 1968, in Brevard, North Carolina, a son to Bobby R. West and his late mother Mary E. (Taylor) West.

He graduated High school in 1986 from Cole Camp R-1 High School.

After High School he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 2016 in Criminal Justice Administration .

Tab started with the Department of Corrections June of 2001 and retired from the Department of Corrections in December of 2022. He utilized his life serving his country as well as his community. Tab was very loved by all who knew him. He was a man that cared for those in his presence and guided them to always doing the right thing. He was a man of his word and lived by those words. His humor was contagious and his heart was caring. His presence in this world will be missed as he is welcomed into the Lord's arms.

Tab is survived by his wife Pamela L. (Miller) West; three sons Brittan Petree, Gabriel Petree and Cory Petree; his father Bobby R. West; twin brother Tye West and sister Tammy Fischer; granddaughter Abigail Petree; and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary E. Taylor.

Per his wishes, cremation is under the direction and care of Kidwell-Garber Funeral home of Laurie/Sunrise Beach. Celebration of Life will be scheduled and at a later date.
