Herbert Keck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home - Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel on Jan. 21, 2026.
Herbert A. Keck, age 95, of Laurie, passed away January 20, 2026. He was born in Latham, Kansas, on August 15, 1930, to Laura and Roy Keck.

His early years were working on a farm as a child. He went into the military and joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 18, and became engaged to Joyce M. Minor by mail with a wedding ring. They were married on November 25, 1949. They were blessed with three children, Pamela L. Folker (husband Charles R. Folker), Peggy J. Goellner (husband Stephen C. Goellner) and Jonathan A. Keck (wife Candace C. Keck).

Herb was very successful as a Marine and in the private sector in sales and business management. In the Laurie community, he served two terms as the Mayor of Laurie and as Alderman. Because of his strong faith, church, family and country were always top priority.

Herb loved to fly and had numerous airplanes. He also loved antique cars and especially enjoyed taking Joyce through parades and vintage car adventures with the Fun Runners.

In addition to his wife and children, Herb leaves behind six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He loved and enjoyed all of them. He also leaves behind his sister, Lena Hunter and his brother, Roy Keck, Jr. from a family of ten children.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 7th, at the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie with Pastor Tim Schomp officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Herb's name to West Lake Christian Church or the City of Laurie "Freedom Rock".

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
