Tamara Ann Muirhead Holland

Tamara Ann (Muirhead) Holland was born on October 16, 1977, in Boulder, Colorado to John and Barbara Muirhead. She passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2024, at Hill Air Force Base, Utah from a pulmonary embolism.

 

Tammy was full of fun and love. Growing up in Frisco, Colorado as the second youngest of six girls, Tammy was always in motion. With a passion for the outdoors nurtured by her father, she often spent time hiking, biking, riding horses, and skiing. An accomplished skier, she achieved All State recognition and was her high school’s Most Valuable Skier in her senior year. She also enjoyed playing volleyball, in which she excelled as a setter. Inspired by her mother, Tammy displayed a remarkable passion for serving others. She was fast to make friends, quick to extend the arm of compassion and found happiness bringing joy to those around her.

 

Her parent’s home also was where Tammy built the foundation of her relationship with Jesus Christ and developed an abiding love for His gospel. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her youth, and was a graduate of the Church’s seminary

program. However, she happily broke the family tradition when she attended Colorado State University—not Brigham Young University—to pursue her undergraduate degree.

 

In the fall of 1998, Tammy met Jeff at a dance sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Colorado State University Institute program. They began dating in the spring of 1999 and quickly began to spend all their free time together.

 

On April 21, 2001, Tammy and Jeff were sealed in the Denver Colorado Temple. Over the course of their marriage, Tammy, Jeff and their children made their home in Tampa, Florida; Summerville, South Carolina; Beavercreek, Ohio; Kusel, Germany; Dyess Air Force Base,

Texas; Arlington, Massachusetts; Alexandria, Virginia; O’Fallon, Illinois; Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri; and Hill Air Force Base, Utah. In every location, Tammy ensured the family stayed strong when Jeff’s Air Force duties called him away, to include when he served a one-

year assignment in Qatar while the family remained in Virginia.

 

After initially attending Colorado State, Tammy graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business. When Andrew and Avery joined the family, she devoted herself to raising them full-time. In addition to being an amazing mother to Andrew and Avery, Tammy’s strength at home powered Jeff’s successes in the Air Force, to include his current assignment as the Commander of the 75th Air Base Wing and the Installation Commander for Hill Air Force Base. Working in the home, Tammy used her extraordinary crafting, baking,

creating and organizing skills to bring joy to others as she enthusiastically served Airmen and their families and supported local organizations benefiting their communities.

 

As an adult, Tammy continued to be an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints and served in various positions within the church. She especially loved working with children and youth. The highlights of her service, however, came when she joined Andrew and Avery on youth temple trips.

 

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey, and two children, Andrew Jacob and Avery Jenae. She is also survived by her father, John Muirhead III; her mother, Barbara (Berndt) Muirhead; and her five sisters, Darlene (Nolting), Cindy (Wells), Sharon (Howerton), Susan (Tagg), and Natalie (Brown).

 

We will hold a Celebration of Life/Reception in Tammy’s honor on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday March 9, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Both events will occur at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah 84041, and all are invited to attend. The Celebration of Life will be casual, with people meeting to chat, reconnect, and tell stories. The Memorial Service will be of a more spiritual nature. Tammy will be interred at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Thursday June 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
