Tamara Hovis Obituary

She was born on April 30, 1971, in Washington, Indiana to her parents, Mike and Linda (Peek) Cooper.
Tammy was a graduate of Shoals High School with the class of 1989. She graduated from USI, Evansville, Indiana with a bachelor's degree in marketing and business administration in 1993. Tammy and Kevin Hovis spent 10 happy years together and were united in love by the blessing of God on August 2, 2025.
Tammy worked for the Shoals Community School for over 7 years, as the Food Service Director ensuring that no student goes hungry. Tammy's legacy is one of showing extra kindness to children in need, and of pausing to marvel at life's simple wonders, as she was known to do. Though our hearts ache, we find hope in the love Tammy inspired among us. May we lean on each other, sharing laughter and tears, as we remember Tammy.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Ellis Jr. and Mary Peek, and her paternal grandparents, Seymour and Evelyn Cooper.
Tammy is survived by her parents, Linda and Mike Cooper, her children, Cole Ellis Florio, Brooke Isabella Florio, her brother, Brandon (Erica) Cooper, nephew, Ace Michael Cooper, niece, Ava Lynn Cooper, her husband Kevin Hovis and his children, Cole J. Hovis, and Christina (Nolan) Walker, grandchildren, Everly and Leila, and several other family members.
A funeral service will be held on Friday August 22, 2025, at 11:00 A.M at Redemption Christian Church with Cameron Gladish to officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals, Indiana.
Friends may visit on Thursday August 21, 2025, from 4:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M at Redemption Christian Church in Loogootee, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Martin County Cancer Patient Services in memory of Tammy.
